Sunday! Sunday! Sunday!

This Sunday, August 22nd from 1-4 pm, shop for a fully refurbished bicycle - proceeds benefit BikeAthens!

WHERE: BikeAthens' Bike Recycling Shop in the Chase St Warehouse.

There will be bikes for all types and all types of bikes. Prices will range from $100 to $500. Accessories and parts also available.

Afterwards, join BikeAthens as we celebrate a year's worth of accomplishments from 5:30-8pm at ATHICA. There will be light food and drink and plenty of good company.

Spring Bike Sale!

BikeAthens' Bike Recycling Program is having a Spring Bike Sale this Sunday March 21st at the Bike Recycling Program Shop in the Chase Street Warehouses off Tracy St.

We'll have 20 freshly refurbished bicycles for sale including something for just about every type of rider. All bikes have passed a 78 point inspection and are in excellent operating condition. We've got road bikes, mountain bikes, touring bikes, hybrids, cruisers, and kids bikes for sale. Treks, Cannondales, Schwinns, Shoguns, Specializeds, and Giants. Bikes are reasonable priced with prices ranging from $50 to $500.

Stop by and check out our supply this Sunday from 2 pm to 4 pm.

100% of the proceeds benefit the BikeAthens Bike Recycling Program. BRP refurbishes bikes and donates them to the underpriviledged citizens of the greater Athens GA area to provide safe and reliable transportation.

Back to School Bike Sale!

BikeAthens' Bike Recycling Program is having a Back To School Bike Sale this Sunday February 7th at the Bike Recycling Program Shop in the Chase Street Warehouses off Tracy St.

We'll have 20 freshly refurbished bicycles for sale including something for just about every type of rider. All bikes have passed a 78 point inspection and are in excellent operating condition. Bike auction: sweet 70's Jeunet

BikeAthens is auctioning this bicycle during Twilight weekend. It's a 70's Jeunet (Franche-Compte). This is the 630 model which is reynolds double butted steel. The frame is 60cm (center of BB to top of seat tube).

Stop by our tent on College Ave, in front of Walker's Pub, to see the bike and make your bid. You may also bid by emailing your full name, telephone, email, and bid amount, to bicyclerecycling[at]bikeathens.com

Minimum bid is $200.

We will stop taking bids at 3 pm on Sunday, 4/26.

Donate bikes to us via the Jittery Joe's Roaster

If you would like to help the Bike Recycling Program with a donated bicycle, you can now drop off donations at the Jittery Joe's Roaster on E. Broad St.

Also, we are selling two restored, classic bikes at the Roaster to help support the program:
  1. 1970's Schwinn Continental, yellow, very large men's frame, tricked out with bar-end shifters, $200
  2. 1986 Ross "Mt. Hood" in stock condition except tires and saddle, $350
Many thanks to the Charlie Mustard at the Roaster for these opportunities!

And ... Jittery Joe's is soon releasing a BikeAthens-benefitting coffee blend, called Alternative Fuels. Stay tuned for details!

Art Bikes for auction

Watch the slide show below to see our collection of "Art Bikes," classic road bike frames featuring the original work of local artists, including:Lou Kregel, John Hinkameyer, David Hale, and Toby Cole.
Frame prep and final coating was done by Airglow from Washington, GA.
The frames were initially refurbished by BikeAthens’ Bike Recycling Shop and Ben’s Bikes.

The bikes include these brands: men's older model Schwinn, men's Specialized Rockhopper, women's Free Spirit Brittany, women's Magna, and a men's Murry.

Come to the annual meeting this Thursday at Cine (7 pm) to make your first bid, or see the frames on dsplay at The Globe and The National, or call 706-714-8450.

2008 Bike Ride for Youth

An event announcement from our friends at the Boys & Girls Club:
Dear Cyclists and Suppporters,
The Boys & Girls Club would like to remind you of a great service opportunity for your club: the 2008 Bike Ride for Youth on August 23. We urge you and your members to register and participate in this event, which will raise needed funds for educational and recreational programs at our Athens facilities.
